Oxfam is a worldwide development organization that mobilizes the power of people against poverty. In Nigeria, we work to influence policy change in favor of the poor and most vulnerable, promoting food security and supporting small-scale farmers to improve the livelihoods of men and women in rural areas. Oxfam focuses on meeting vulnerable people’s needs, saving lives, sustaining increased incomes for the poorest, transforming attitudes about women’s roles and rights and strengthening government systems for accountable governance and improved service delivery for citizens.

Oxfam, CEPAD, CRUDAN and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is implementing an eight (8) months project in 5 LGAs of Adamawa State beginning in Michika LGA. The project is aimed at establishing a community-led participatory planning process that ensures that all members of the community are involved in the development and implementation of community development plans and can leverage relevant government and non-governmental structures in driving their community development process.

The main objective of this project is to increase citizen participation and strengthen social cohesion through the delivery of community-driven development interventions across all wards of in all wards of Michika LGA in Adamawa State. Specifically, the Community Development Planning (CDP) in Michika Local Government will focus on bringing together various community actors, vulnerable groups, women and men of different ages and socio-economic backgrounds at the ward level to plan for their communities’ development through a participatory bottom-up planning process. It is through this process that a community addresses its problems, reacts to change, determines its future, and creates the quality-of-life citizens’ desire.
